Tom Sylva Legacy Scholarship
The Douglas County School District athletic-trainer group lost a dear
member of our team on March 5th. Tom Sylva, 58, the head athletic
trainer at Highlands Ranch High School for more than 20 years, died
unexpectedly following an early morning hiking trek in his beloved
Colorado mountains. His death was not only a loss to the Highlands
Ranch High School community, but to the entire district.
To honor his legacy, his co-workers are establishing a scholarship
that will be awarded to a Douglas County School District graduating
senior who is hoping to pursue a career in healthcare. Tom's career in
athletic training wasn’t just a job, It was a vocation. He was a healer,
a coach, and a friend; so, it seems particularly appropriate to pay
forward his years of service by enabling a deserving student to follow
in his footsteps.
We would appreciate any donation. Your gift could make a significant
difference in a student’s life, or in the lives of multiple students if we
are able to raise enough money. And it will demonstrate to Tom’s
family in a tangible way how much his years of service were
appreciated. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
